  • Volunteer Opportunities in Christian Education!
Kids, parents and other grownups are having a great time in our Sunday morning programs! We could use some extra hands, especially as we move into the holiday season. Take a look at the following list and see where you might be able to help. We need volunteers to:
    - help with crafts at intergenerational Sunday School events

    - create a fresh Advent wreath to use on Sunday mornings during Advent
    - chaperone small groups of children at our young childrens’ Christmas pageant
    - manage costumes for our Christmas pageant
    - teach a class on Bible skills for parents of third graders (January)
    - assist in our 3rd grade “Learning to Use My Bible” Sunday School (January)
    - help kids complete art projects in our 5th/6th grade Bible Study Studio
    - teach and shepherd first through fourth graders in their rotation classrooms
    - bake Epiphany “king cakes” to share
    - teach elementary and junior high kids how to make sets of Anglican prayer beads (Lent)
  • The Guild of the Christ Child Needs You
The Guild of the Christ Child provides support and care for expectant families (either through birth or adoption) and families of infants.  Our ministry recognizes this special, yet difficult time as an opportunity for the St. Paul's church family to welcome our newest members and encourage their parents through prayer, meals and fellowship.  There are many ways to support this ministry through cooking, knitting, praying or offering your arms to rock and hold.  We also need to know when our members are expecting.  If there is a baby in your future or if you would like to volunteer, please contact Cary Marcantonio at her E-mail.
  • The Bookshop Needs Help!
The Bookshop is looking for volunteers!  No experience necessary - just your smile!  Call DeeAnn Robbs (817-3949 or 722-9334).
  • Kids' Cafe Volunteers Needed
We are in need of a few volunteers who can help us make sure that Kids' Cafe runs smoothly and safely.  If you are interested in volunteering, please E-mail Jeremy Fox or call Mike Bradshaw at 723-4391.  Here are the opportunities:
    • A volunteer to help our cook, arriving at 4:30 p.m. and helping her transport the food and make last minute preparations when needed.
    • A volunteer to ride the bus with our bus driver.  This person should arrive at 4 p.m. to ride with her to pick up the children.
    • A volunteer to ride on the bus to take the children home.  This person would leave when the bus leaves, around 6:20 p.m., and be finished at 7:30 p.m.
    • Volunteer Tutors are needed for Thursday evening from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Librarians Needed!
St. Paul's wonderful library is in great need of people with library training or experience!  As it nears 4,000 volumes and expands to other media, it needs the attention of people trained in all aspects of circulation, accessioning, cataloguing, and other management.  Please come help our very small staff keep this fabulous resource in good running order for our parish!  Call Stephanie Lovett (722-9334) or Louise Gossett (759-2597).
  • It's Time to Donate More S&H greenpoints!
S&H greenpointsParishioners were very generous in donating S&H greenpoints to St. Paul’s during the past three years and we need you to donate again. They require that you donate at least 3,000 points or more at one time. You can donate on line at www.greenpoints.com or by calling 1-800-311-2117. The St. Paul’s account number is 4202 2207 8821. In the past we have been able to buy sheets, pillows, coffee makers, pots and pans, slow cookers, towel sets, bedspreads and much more to furnish the two apartments at St. Paul’s Place to Stay. After a year and a half of continuous use, we need to replace some items and restock others. We also can buy some of the items that Denice needs in the church’s kitchen to help keep it restocked. Measuring cups, spoons and pot holders regularly disappear in our busy kitchen. Thanks for helping our church by donating your S&H greenpoints!

  • Be a Reception Desk Volunteer!
Are you willing to give a few hours of your time to answer the phone in the church office?  No experience necessary!  A friendly smile is the only requirement.  All you have to do is sit at the reception desk and answer the phone.  It's as easy as that!  We have an immediate need for Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Please call the church office at 723-4391 and speak to John Markle if you are interested.
  • Calling all Shutterbugs
Please consider volunteering your rime and talent as our family photographer.  We need several volunteers to take pictures at St. Paul's events to update our website and brochures.  We even have a camera you can use!  Please contact Henry Wilkinson, Communications Coordinator at 723-4391 or E-mail for more information.

  • A Convention Thank You for St. Paul's Volunteers

    January 24, 2009

    With Great Appreciation –

In preparation for the 193rd Diocesan Convention, these parishioners put dates and times on their calendars to help at the Benton Convention Center.  Exciting tasks like hours of recruiting volunteers, stuffing delegate folders, and registering delegates were accomplished tirelessly.  I am so grateful and thank all the convention volunteers for their dedicated time and effort!

  • New to St. Paul's?  Single?
We want you to feel at home. We are trying to discern whether or not there is enough interest for new small groups to be formed. Please contact Lyndsay Foster, Small Group Coordinator at 723-4391 ext 520 or by E-mail if you are interested.
  • Transportation Ministry Available to All Parishioners
Our Transportation Ministry is available to all parishioners who no longer drive, who would like assistance driving to unfamiliar places, or need someone to go with them for a medical procedure.  Call our Transportation Coordinator, Wayne Foushee, who can schedule your trip to the grocery or drug store, medical appointments, church or anywhere!  Call Wayne at 722-6454 and leave a message with details of your need.
  • What is a NOOMA?
The Greek word pneuma means spirit, or breath.  NOOMA references the Greek pneuma and is also the name of a series of short video meditations by a young pastor and author named Rob Bell.  His website says that "We want a new format for getting Christian perspectives" and that's what NOOMA aims to do.  Rob's videos cover topics that Christians care about like intimacy, poverty, discipleship, forgiveness, and death, among others.  Our Senior High Sunday School class will be using these videos as discussion starters at least once a month in the upcoming year.  If you'd like to see previews of the videos and get more information visit NOOMA's website.
  • Pick Up The Sunday Paper In Church
Funny PagesYou now have permission to read The Sunday Paper in church! “The Sunday Paper” is the name of a children’s Sunday morning cartoon bulletin that will be available for children and families (and others!) to pick up at the back of the Nave on Sunday mornings. The writer and illustrator is Gretchen Wolff-Pritchard, who is a longtime Episcopal Christian Educator and author. The papers will come in two versions, one for older children and “The Sunday Paper Junior” for younger children. The junior edition also includes insightful commentary for parents on the day’s scripture readings and suggestions for responding to the scripture with children at home. Let us know what you think!
  • Grief Counseling Available
Have you lost a spouse, a parent or a child? The Hospice and Palliative Care Center offers both group and individual grief counseling for death-related loss free of charge from licensed professionals. This counseling is available for children, teens and adults. There are also support groups for survivors of suicide and caregivers. Most groups begin in early February.
