About the Order of St. Luke
The International Order of St. Luke the Physician is an interdenominational Christian ministry of intercessory prayer and is devoted to the healing of body, mind and spirit. Members include clergy, health professionals, and lay people who feel called to make Jesus’ Ministry of Healing a regular part of their vocation. OSL is a ministry committed to prayer and praying for others as an important aspect of the spiritual life.
Our local chapter of OSL is committed to expanding its ministry into the community and being available upon request to be present whenever needed, especially on special occasions when the Eucharist is being administered in community outreach activities (such as prison/jail services, Samaritan Inn, etc.). OSL is also available for special individual prayer, as well as home and hospital visits.
Several other churches and denominations are active in our local OSL chapter.
OSL meets the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m., just after the Wednesday evening Holy Eucharist and Healing service. These meetings are both instructive, as well as attend to the business details of the order. Dinner is usually available at the cost of $6.00. If you are interested in learning more, please contact any OSL member or call one of the co-conveners.

Receiving Prayer
At St. Paul’s parishioners can receive prayers for healing in several ways:
During Holy Eucharist, you can take communion at the side altar and then remain, crossing your arms over your chest, and an OSL member will anoint you with oil and say a prayer from the BCP.
Ask that your name, or the name of someone you know, be put on the OSL Prayer List. We use first names only.

The Order of St. Luke maintains a prayer list and names may be added by contacting:

Prayers
"Almighty God, who inspired Your servant Luke the Physician to set forth in the Gospel the love and healing power of Your son: Graciously continue in Your Church the love and power to heal, to the praise and glory of Your Name, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen."

"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."   ~ James 5:13-15
