St. Paul's Jail and Prison Ministry
St. Paul’s conducts services at the Forsyth County Jail every other month. Members of the Order of St. Luke go to the NC Dept. of Corrections unit on N. Cherry Street every Friday. In addition to having tutors at the prison on a regular basis, we also conduct a Maundy Thursday service of Holy Communion and foot washing every year in Holy Week.
St. Paul’s provides meeting space for the “Plan to Prosper” project in the Outreach Center. This program works with recently released inmates and helps in adjusting to life “on the outside” with all its stresses and strains. St. Paul’s also provides financial support to Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministries which employs chaplains and lay people to work with inmates, their families and correctional facility personnel. If you are interested in knowing more about our parish’s involvement with our jails and prisons, please contact the Rev. John Shields, 723-4391.
