Dear Friends:

I have heard, via email, from a few people in Haiti. The Rev. Kesner Ajax, director of BTI in Les Cayes, and head of the partnership program, wrote that he is OK. His message:

Thank you Lauren,
No communication between Port au prince and the provinces. Here Aux cayes, BTI is ok but two students were hurted because all in a classroom tried to leave  at the same time.

Some houses are destroyed.

Kesner also was quoted in a CNN online story:

The Rev. Kesner Ajax, executive director of a school in the southwestern city of Cayes, said several people were hurt when they rushed to get out of the building. Two homes in the area collapsed and the top of a church collapsed in a nearby town, he said, but he did not know of any fatalities.

I have heard from some who are up in the mountains, and it seems that they are OK. Lots of damage, lots of people shaken up, some injuries, but that's all so far.
