ECW White Elephant Sale

CHAIRMAN: Linda Hill 723-1454 memphisbelle@triad.rr.com

The White Elephant Sale is held on Shrove Tuesday in conjunction with the EYC Pancake Supper at St. Paul's.  This sale was begun in 1951 by the members of St. Cecilia Circle to provide funds for Miss Rachel Wolff in her mission to India and Nepal.  In 1994, St. Anne's Circle decided this sale would become an annual Circle project for them along with the assistance of other ECW members.  Each year after the sale, the proceeds are presented to the ECW Council, which in turn divides them among the EYC Scholarship Fund and other youth-oriented community projects.

ECW United Thank Offering

COORDINATOR: Sandy Gilbert 768-4423 dsgilbert@covad.net

More than 100 years ago, the women of the Episcopal Church devised a simple way of expressing their gratitude for the blessings of each day - both large and small - that God had given them.  The blue box on your windowsill or table is a symbol and the container for the United Thank Offering.  As we recognize the presence of our heavenly Father in our lives by dropping coins into the box, we help to address the needs of the world.

The money collected at the Spring and Fall Ingatherings (May 11 and October 12, 2008) in each parish is counted and forwarded to the Diocesan chairman.  A presentation is then made to the National Church where a select committee considers the many requests that have been made.  Your coins make a difference to those less fortunate.

ECW 2008 St. Paul's Bazaar

CO-CHAIRMEN: Sherrie Fain 201-3462 sherrie@myfain.com
  Missie Vaughan 724-4579 missiesuev@aol.com
  Julie Wise 760-4032 jwise@triad.rr.com

The 62nd annual St. Paul's Bazaar and Luncheon will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2008.  This year's theme for the Bazaar will be "Everything Old is New Again."  Sherrie, Missie and Julie worked on Bazaar committees many years ago and are considering themselves to be the first items to be "recycled!"  While one of the main goals of the bazaar is to raise funds for many charities, missions, and programs, it is also about ECW fellowship.  To foster this fellowship, Bazaar workshops will be held during mornings and evenings.  It is a great time to get to know your fellow church women while preparing crafts for the Bazaar sale.  All information concerning the Bazaar will be printed in ParishLife.  Questions, concerns, ideas?  Feel free to call or email any or all of the Bazaar chairs.
